Frequently Asked Questions

How should I clean my footlocker?

To clean your camp footlocker after camp, start by emptying it completely and vacuuming or brushing out any dirt or debris. Wipe down the outside with a mild soap solution, disinfect if needed, and let it dry thoroughly. To keep it fresh, deodorize with baking soda or a dryer sheet, and store it in a cool, dry place with the lid slightly open.

What if my footlocker smells "interesting" after camp?

If the inside of your footlocker smells after camp, start using a disinfecting spray to kill any bacteria causing the odor. Then sprinkle baking soda inside, close the lid, and let it sit for 24–48 hours before vacuuming or wiping it out. For ongoing freshness, you can leave a dryer sheet, cedar block, or charcoal deodorizer inside while it’s stored.

What should I do if the latch is difficult to open?

If the latch is hard to open, check for dirt or rust and clean it out, then apply a small amount of lubricant like WD-40 to loosen it up. If it still sticks, gently adjust the latch or lid to ensure proper alignment without forcing it. A pair of pliers can also be used to reduce the spring tension, but be careful to not loosen too much!

What can I do if there are scratches on the metal?

Our products are built tough and designed to stand up to real-world use—so over time, a bit of wear and tear is part of their story and character. We take great care during manufacturing to keep each piece in pristine condition, but occasionally, small marks or slight imperfections can appear due to the nature of raw materials. Using a fine grade steel wool can also help to buff out small imperfections on the metal. That said, your satisfaction is really important to us, so if you feel like what you're seeing is more than expected or if it's affecting your experience, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re happy to take a closer look and make things right if needed.
